Uber says AI agents have booked just four rides
A striking number from Uber's earnings call shows how early consumer AI agents still are.
AI agents may dominate the conversation in tech, but they are barely showing up in Uber's business. On the company's third-quarter earnings call on November 4, CFO Balaji Krishnamurthy said third-party AI agents had fulfilled four rides. Uber Eats handled around 500 agent-placed orders during Halloween week.
Krishnamurthy described agent demand as "very, very early." Uber did not name the agents involved.
Why it matters
Investors have worried that AI assistants could sit between consumers and apps like Uber, taking over the customer relationship. These numbers suggest that shift has not started in any measurable way. But small numbers now say little about what happens once agents get better at payments and bookings, and the company is clearly tracking them.
